It finally happened. No, not a permanent teaching job. This past September I accepted another job outside of education that is more rewarding financially. It's not as rewarding satisfaction-wise compared to teaching kids but I'd begun to wonder if the benefits were worth the long hours and constant challenges. No, I won't be making a difference in the classroom with my new job but I will have normal hours and don't have to work an evening job.
I miss the kids and I still have the option of coming back to subbing but so far I'm in no hurry.
